Teach Soap

I was wondering if I could use sodium lactate if I soap the CPOP? Does it matter if I use CP or CPOP? Thanks.

You can use it either way. It does make unmolding easier.

I use sodium lactate because it makes my soap harder faster, I can unmold sooner and so I can reuse the same mold. It also helps because I don't gel.

Thanks soapbuddy! I used it last night in a batch and the batch definitely came out of the mold feeling a bit harder.

I use sodium lactate in my HP bar soap. It does really well to keep the soap pourable. I use the biodiesel glycerin to make soap with and it can be soft at times, wow does sodium lactate help harden the bars!

I add it to my water after I have dissolved the lye. I use a water soluble powder.

I just LOVE the stuff!

I didn't know it comes in a powder form. I use a liquid form & add it to the water before adding lye

That sounds like a better way to go for shipping. I just checked lotioncrafters. Is there anywhere else you can get this? I'm not sure what a good price would be in powder form? Thanks.

I get mine in 40kg bags. It's much cheaper in powder form too.

Thanks. I'll have to try the powder when I run out of this liquid that I have.

Can I ask a basic sodium lactate question? Been experimenting with it all weekend in cp and cpop soap. When you say add to lye water, do you add at a certain temp or right after the lye water gets clear, or ????. Please advise.
