Since our first soap swap was so successful, I have offered to host another one, pretty much following the same instructions as the last one. Since I will be using a medium sized Flat Rate box, we can accomodate a few more participants for the same postage.

Here's how it will work:

If you are interested, put your name on the list. I'll keep track - signups will be open until we either get 15 people or August 23 arrives, at which time the signups will be closed. I will plan to ship by October 1.

Everyone will then make soap, and send me 14 full size bars of the same type - you won't get one of your own back. Soaps are due to me by September 26, this should allow folks not only enough time to come up with an idea and make the soap (if you don't have anything hanging around you want to send), but also will give time for the bars to cure if you have to make something new. Just to be sure we don't have any allergy problems, please include a complete ingredients list - you should also put your forum name on the label.

You will also send me funds for shipping the boxes out, preferably by Paypal. Postage will be $10.35. If paying by paypal is an issue for you, please let me know. I will PM you with my paypal information and mailing address once you have signed up. Once all of the boxes arrive, I'll distribute the soap and send the boxes back out to each swapper.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know - the TeachSoap September 2009 Soap Swap is now in progress!

If you ever decide to do this with guest soaps let me know. Im getting ready for the busy season and with trying new Fos and combinations ( and having to test all them ) 14 full size bars would take me a very long time use. But I love the idea of a swap. And Id really love to try a salt bar. No one around here sells them that I've ever seen. Mine sadly didn't lather for s##t.

I've always wanted to try a swap and feel confidant enough now to give it a shot.
So sign me up too! :D

Hi There:

When you say 14 bars of the same type, do you mean the same fragrance/from the same batch? If so, I may have to sit this one out because I'm ramping up for a busy season, as well.

I had volunteered to host the next swap, but someone beat me to it. I would be happy to host the next one (after the September 2009 swap) . Maybe an early 2010 swap (as people may be too busy during Christmas for the next one) ????

I am loving all of my soaps from the first swap. I am going to be a bit sad when they are all gone...

I'm planning to make a special batch just for the swap. All I know so far is that it will be veggie based and one of my tried and true basic recipes. But I have not decided on fragrance or additives.

I know some swaps have a theme but if we're not going with any particular theme I will come up with something fun. If anyone wants to narrow it down a bit let me know.

Me too. Sign me up. Also, no tallow or lard soaps for me, pretty please.

Thanks,

No theme for this swap, but I think it would be easier if folks use a single recipe and fragrance for all 14 bars. I know this is a busy time of the year for people who sell their products, but there are a lot of folks on this list who are not gearing up for their busy season or have the capacity to handle something extra. Since we are requesting a single recipe/fragrance for all bars, I don't want to restrict the theme or ingredients in the soaps. However, please label them clearly so if anyone does have a preference or allergy, they can defer from using that bar. If that is an issue, I am sure at some point in the future there will be an all veggie swap to accomodate those special requests.
