Any CPOP experts? I would like to try to use powdered goat's milk in a recipe, but would like to use the CPOP method, is this going to boil up & cause the veining effect as the regular goat's milk did when I just insulated it?

The powdered milk can cause overheating just as much as the liquid milk - I'd avoid CPOP for this one.

I use powdered goats milk all the time, just beacuse it's so easy to store. just be sure you mix it all very well or you'll have dark spots of goats milk powder ( I misstook them for DOS once.

I use all fresh goatmilk, no water, all the time, in every scent I have--- which is around 25+ depending on the season. I do cp no gel. All the fragrances have the same recipe with the exception of OMH which obvioulsy contains oatmeal and honey in addition. The accelerant in my experience is the fragrance oil. Some of mine have to go into the freezer within 5 min of the pour---- right now it's my florals, apple, cherry and peach fragrances. Some heat up within an hour of the pour. Several never heat up. I keep track of this so I know how much freezer room I'll need and how quickly! Now, as I have never used water, I can only point out what I have observed with my goatmilk soaps. Good luck!

Thank you all.

knine, one more question. Do you refrigerate your goat's milk or freeze it. I did not have good luck with the freezer thing. How do you manage it from getting really stinky when one's lye water reaches 180 degrees sometimes?

I do freeze my goatmilk in quart zip lock freezer bags put in the freezer as flat as possible. When frozen, I hit the bag with a meat mallot to get quite small pieces--- the smaller the better. While my hard oils are melting, I pour the amount of milk pieces I need into my glass measure ( which is on the scale ), then measure the lye separately into a paper cup. When I have combined all my oils and have it close to room temp, I add the lye to the milk and stir stir stir! The milk is slightly slushy, but still frozen enough to have much less fumes and by doing it this way, the milk stays white. I immediatley add to my oils when the milk is all melted. I add the fo at thin trace with the stick blender off-- just using it as a spoon until I see how it is going to behave.

Thanks knine. I'll try this. So you pour your oils into the lye water. I do just the opposite? I pour the lye into the oils, have I been doing this backwards the whole time?

No! You do add the lye to the oils--- sorry to confuse you! I add the lye to the milk at the last minute, mix then add the lye/milk mixture to the oils. I don't use any water. I don't let the lye/milk mixture sit around. It's actually quite cool when added to the oils.
