Hi all - here's some pictures of my first attempt at diagonal soap. The color is way too intense. I just don't know when to quit with the color. I'm calling this "Incredible Hulk" soap. I'm sure it will bleed, bleed, bleed.
http://s701.photobucket.com/albums/ww13 ... at_photos/Okay, here's how I did this. I made the 1st batch, using BB Blackberry/Sage FO, 3 teas. Antique Blue mica. I soaped at 102 degrees. I poured at light trace. I should have stopped there, but no after looking at it, I put the rest of the batch in there. You can see on one of the soaps that this caused a ripple, instead of a nice smooth line. I set this on the counter, didn't put anything on it i.e., (saran wrap). I ate lunch, then soaped another batch at about the same temp. This time using 2 teas of green chrome oxide, same FO, and 2 teas blueberry seeds. This time I got about a medium trace because I didn't want it to run into the other. I guess I didn't have to worry about that because the first batch set up pretty well. After pouring the second batch on I put it in the oven at 170 degrees for an hour, shut off oven & pulled it out this morning and cut it. My set-up for the diagonal I used a plastic mitering block that I got from the hardware store for $5, and as you can see, I used a piece of tile left over from my bathroom and a piece of cardboard off my BB order box, lol. Hope this helps all of us newbies out there. Sorry for the long post. Like I said color is way too intense, but the process is pretty simple.
