Is there a difference between American and English Ounces?

I'm using the calculator on http://www.summerbeemeadow.com/ to resize my basic recipe (50% Olive Oil, 30% coconut oil and 20% Palm oil) and I'm converting it from grams to ounces first.

Anyway, the resizing calculator is saying that my mould can hold 3 Lb.14.54 oz.

I thought there were only 14oz in a lb?

So all in all, I've really confused myself.

Don't be embarrassed. I wouldn't want to have to do the conversion that you do. No telling what I'd end up with.

Here's another soap calculator that allows you to input a recipe by percentage, grams, ounces, pounds, create a recipe
and convert it. It has soaping instructions too, but you have to click on yes where it asks if you want to include them. It gives you a lye discount range (for superfatting) as well. It's pretty simple to use but instructions are in the upper left.

I'm using this one then checking it against the Summer Bee calc and recipe resizer. Rainbowmeadow typically calls for more water than Summer Bee. I use the amount that Summer Bee suggests. I don't know if this will be more helpful for you or more confusing. Good luck!
