Teach Soap

Hi everyone
I was using this general recipe for cp:
25% coconut oil
25% grapeseed oil
40% olive oil
10% soybean oil
supperfatted at 7%

I was pretty satisfied by the results but Im ready for a change cause I do not plan to use grapeseed oil in the next lot even if its soft for my sensitive skin.

what would you use as remplacement. (Remember that I have to live on a budget.

You can redistribute that % into the other oils (like soybean) that you are using except for the coconut. Any higher % of the coconut could make the soap drying.

A note on Grapeseed. . I am finding it CHEAP at middle eastern/international grocery stores. It is less expensive than olive pomace. So you may not want to give that up if it is budget related. I got a giant, giant jug for $10. The equivalent Olive was $12.

when I can find olive oil for 12.00 for a giant jug ( I assume thats) 101 oz. Im all over it like a duck on a june bug

Today I got 1 gallon for $10.50. 16 oz coconut for $4.28 per jar. And the grapeseed for $10 even.

Try international grocery stores (middle eastern customers). . . .or even Indian grocery.

Wow! I think I pay $18.99 at costco for the Olive Oil

You guys are so lucky , at Costco here in Canada is $25.99 up to $29.99 for 5 litres. I did find EVOO at walmart for $5.99 a litre , I thought that was a good price .I want to try making some balms .

Check the back label carefully if the price for the olive oil is too good to be true. I bought some olive oil at a discount store once and it was adulterated with canola; which is a VERY soft oil.

Thats good to know Soapbuddy. What do you think is a real good price for Olive oil? Any tips where to get it?

Costco has the best price as far as I have found for Olive Oil, it's 5qts & 9.1oz for $18.99. Might be a little higher up here, but I don't pay any sales tax here in Oregon. You could try Walmart - but I have a lifelong ban on Walmart personally.

I get my olive oil at Costco as well or from Mike At Columbus Foods for larger quantities.
