Teach Soap

Well here are the pictures..it did not turn out pretty...my step father said it looked like poop and was ugly...hm it was suppose to be purple..

I agree it is not "pretty", but well it could have been much worse, I am curious to see how good of a bar it will be.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I bet they will feel great! You should be proud you made that soap!

I'd say you're off to a great start! Soap doesn't have to look good to be luxurious.... I found that it takes a few batches to get the process down, then you can concentrate on playing with the "looks" of the bars. I think you did a great job- have fun!

Yeah, I am happy it didn't fall apart, and that there were not any explosions. I am not sure why the top is glossy?

You know we all started out like this. I think you did good. It's no easy trick to turn a bunch of oil and lye into soap. I know Im gonna catch hell for this but Id tell my step father he was ugly and smells like poop too.

I agree. Don't worry about the looks.
For my first batch, I used an FO I bought at wal mart. To make things worse, if was a floral, so it seized on me, bad.
Not only the soap looked AWFUL, with pits, different shades where the oils didn't mix properly, "bleeding holes", etc, but it smelled so rank I could barely use it. But it cleaned and felt like a million bucks (compared to the commercial stuff), so I ended up loving it.
Now, with 5 batches under my belt (quite an "expert", aren't I? ), my soaps still look bad, but I don't care.

My point is, give yourself time. Some of the members here are in a whole 'nother level. Yeah, their soaps are gorgeous, but they have sometimes hundreds of batches of experience behind them.

Give your soap time to cure, and try it. Believe me, if it feels as good as mine felt, once you start using it you won't care at all what your step father says, and, who knows, maybe if he starts using it, he'll change his mind...

Thanks, my boyfriend is going to create a wooden mold for me next week, which may help a bit. It is interesting how the colors can change..!

I like your soap. Congratulations on that first batch. I'm sure there are many more to come.
