Teach Soap

Oh my. Got my first round of M&P bases & EO/FOs from Bramble Berry earlier this week, and I suspect this is going to be a long & deliciously distracting relationship The original plan was to just get enough base to use up some POs that weren't getting any love... but black pepper EO! Zucchini flower FO! Olive oil base! I was powerless!

We once made evil hot-process soap when we lived on the farm - pig fat, far too much lye, in a cast iron cauldron over a wood fire in the burning pit It was an unmitigated disaster, and I am endlessly grateful that the modern soap-making process is slightly less frightening.

I will be good & play with my M&P for a while, but I suspect the siren's call of CP & rebatching will prove too much for me to resist - you all make such beautiful soap!

As far as CP, always run the recipe through a lye calculator and make sure you have a quality scale. My mother and grandmother made soap the old fashioned way in a kettle, but they did have an old fashioned scale.

Mmmm, zucchini flower with an olive oil base sounds yummy! It's funny how you tell yourself that you're going to use up the FOs you've got before buying more, but that never seems to work out for me, either!
