Some of this depends on what oils you are worried about. Some oils like Hemp go rancid faster than say Palm. I have some bars that are way older than 2 years that smell a little stale, but not rancid ( I wouldn't sell them!) and I didn't use anything but oils, water, lye, FO. However Essential Oils can get yucky or just fade faster too. I have never had anything go "bad" before 1 year though. I hope this helps.

I wouldn't add a preservative to CP soap, as it would get eaten by lye. If you are worried about your soapmaking oils, I would add some ROE (Rosemary Oleoresin extract) to the oils.
