Teach Soap

I have only made CP Soaps and have not been at it long. I love making soaps and my skin is feeling so much better. I would like to take it to my hair now, but do not know where to start on making shampoo. Could someone help me with this? I would so appreciate it. I color my hair ( too gray if I don't) so I need to make a shampoo that would not wash out my color and my hair is also dry because of the color. Help

I have made several different liquid soaps and getting shampoo right was the toughest of them all. The problem is you need alot of coconut oil to get the cleaning and suds but the more you use the thinner your shampoo will be. A good book to read is "Making natural liquid soaps" by Catherine Failor. Another website with recipes and info is http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/formulary.html Get information from as many places as you can. It is a very nice shampoo when you do get it right. The best advise I could give you is make small batches to start and use less water than whatever recipe you choose calls for. It is easy to add more later, not so easy to get it out. Thank you for the tips and I will let you know how I do. I love the snowdrift site too. I have been on it before with my CP Soaps. I am thinking about maybe trying a CP shampoo bar. I got a receipe for it off a site. Have you ever tried to make a bar before and if you did, how did it turn out?

I love shampoo bars and they have sold well for me as well. When I first made one I got my hands on 3 different recipes. I ran them all thru soapcalc to see how they were different from my regular soap and found 1 recipe to look better than the rest. Then I took a close look at it and asked myself "How can I make this better?" I tweaked the recipe a little and had a good one on my first try. Some say rub the bar in your hands and then apply the lather to your hair but I think it best to rub the bar directly into your hair. What a difference in the way they lather up.

I make a shampoo bar as well. I just rub it right on my hair .

I'm the odd person out. I can't use shampoo bars. It makes my hair dry and unruly. I do use a syndet (synthetic) shampoo bar that I got on esty. That one works fine for my type of hair.
