OK, my problem is that I get A LOT of wrinkles

I'm trying different liners at the moment. I know some people use freezer paper but here in this country the only source I found so far costs $30 for a roll

I've found a different type of everyday wax paper but I have yet to try it. Hopefully it will make a difference.

You may want to consider taking the time to measure and cut out silicone or plastic chopping mats to fit your mold. You only have to do it once... they can be reused almost infinitely.
I use the plastic ones in my PVC molds but I know people have used them in box molds as well.

If you search old threads in this and other forums you may even find some pics.

You've found a really good support group here.
We used to have a 12 step program but every step was "Make some more soap".

The shoebox / trash bag is fine though forget what I said about silicone liners etc.
You may eventually want to move to a sturdier mold that can be reused longer. You can build this yourself or buy one of many available on the market. Then you can think about a more permanant liner if you like... or not.

But for now just keep making small batches of soap and have fun.

BTW - if it lathers and doesn't zap... it's soap!

I use both of Susan Miller Cavitch's books as well as Alicia Grosso's book but my very first C/P soaping experience was through purchasing Anne Marie's DVD and basic C/P soapmaking kit. The DVD and kit are both excellent for newbies.

That was over two years ago and it is what got me hooked on C/P soaping. In fact, I was doing some spring cleaning the other day and I found a bar from the very first soap batch I made using that kit. The soap still smells great, is very mild, and lathers like crazy. I think I'm going to repeat that recipe (if I can just find it now...)

HEAVENLY SCENT SOAPS

I get 4 liners out of one of the black, heavy duty large trash bags. The corners of the bags get taped lightly with scotch tape to the corners of the mold.
