Teach Soap

Like, to a craft show?

Ambient air tempature, sun, shade, etc? We're talking CP....

What do you do when it's too hot? Too rainy? Too anything? Do you just stay inside and soap? Knit? WHat?

It gets pretty hot here in Palm Springs. What has worked for me is working samples on the table that people can pick up, touch and smell. Then if they buy one, I'll take it out of a cooler. I have also held some packages so people could walk around, then pick up their soaps on their way out.

Good Idea to have a cooler! It's pretty not-hot right now, but I know come June-July it is "California Hot" here....

hello vinca and soapbuddy..I just wanted to jump in here for my own curiousity sake.....what would happen to the CP soap on a hot day if you left it out? Would it start to sweat? could it melt?? thank you

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that it would kinda make it lose its scent if you did it frequently, and could make it soft, making your bars get dinged up....sweating might be more of a glycerine soap issue?

ahh...thank you guys...very good to know soapbuddy, I can't imagine its very much fun getting a glob of melted soap out of carpet, but I guess on the bright side , the carpet would get clean...

We had one outdoor show last year where we didn't have an awning and we weren't set up in the shade (but ended up having to move everything into the shade about half-way through the show). Some of my M&P started sweating (C/P was OK), but some of the colored soaps did fade because of the direct sunlight. This summer, we won't do an outdoor show unless we can set up an awning.

Another problem that we've had with outdoor shows are bees - they are attracted to the scents and they won't leave the products alone! I've had potential customers avoid my table because of it! Anyone ever have that happen before??

I would have *never* thought of that!!!! Do you use EO of FO, or both?

I purchased a 10x10 awning, and if I get on it early enough I can choose grass over asphalt, and under shade trees.

I use mostly FOs. Yep, bees! And that was the same show where some guy had an uncontrollable dog. It came over and lifted its leg on my table! Peed all over the skirting on one side.

OMG!! Thats awful! What happened then?

The dog owner was totally embarassed. But, it was toward the end of the day, so we were breaking down the booth soon, anyway.
