As we all know favorite scents are in the "nose" of the beholder, but I'm in search of the illusive. What is your favorite beach, ocean, summer sun, etc. fragrance oil? I like the fragrance of Ocean at the Pottery Barn. (It is a diffuser.) I wrote down the description from the side of the box, and of course, I can't find it now. Anyone have their own favorite they'd like to share?

By the way, can you tell I'm ready for spring?!

BrambleBerry has a nice Ocean Rain scent. It could be used for a beachy type of scent. You could also look online at Felicia's Fragrance Finder.

Beach Breezes is light and summery. And then of course, there's always coconut mixed with tropical vacation - or mango mixed with lime. Yummy ... beach. I would love a beach right now =)

Dear Ann Marie, I loved BB Island Coconut in MP soap but it fades awful in my CP. Any tips to get a nice coconut scent in CP?

Linda, it's funny you should mention that. I just made CP soap with BB's Island Coconut this week! And sadly, the scent is gone. I know all coconuts tend to fade some so I was expecting it to be weak especially since I only used .5 oz PPO. But I was surprised that it completely disappeared. My recipe contained Coconut, Lard, PKO, Sunflower, Olive, Shea and Castor. All of my other FO's from BB have done great at .5 PPO except this one.

I've decided to call it "Almost Coconut". I think my testers will get a kick out of that.

Thanks,
zeo

I've used 1 oz. PPO since the fragrance is light. It's still light, but you can smell it; even after 4 months.

Zeoplum, when that happens to me I just make up another name for the soap. Nobody but you knew what it was suppose to smell like .Right? and it is still good soap, Right? I mixed it with Vanilla Select to have a Tehition Vanilla Im sure I spelled thar wrong. And the coconut dissapered so I ended up calling it Light Vanilla. You would be supprised how many people want light fragrances.

Soap Buddy, I love coconut in any form but I;ve not had luck with it in my CP. Do you think if I uped the amount I used it would help? Usually BBs FO stick great in my soap.Just a few FOs vanished in my soap. Maybe it got too hot in gel faze and burnt off the scent. What to you think? I always soap around 100 to 110 degrees. The ones I've had trouble with are, Spell bound woods, coconut, strawberry, and I think grapefruit

Anne-Marie told me through email this week that she uses a little bit of Vanilla Select to anchor the Island Coconut. Although I still can't smell much scent on the soap I made, if I try really hard I can get just a teeny tiny idea of what it smells like so I think it's worth trying again. I'll try the anchoring suggestion but this will be something new for me. Can someone suggest a usage rate?

Thanks!

I used 1 oz.. of Island coconut and a tbs. of vanilla select for a 2.5 lb. batch of CP thinking Id call it tahitian vanilla and the coconut just vanished . So what I ended up with was a very light vanilla fragrance That was what I called it ( so I could sell it. Both FOs we're from BB so you know it was not just some cheap FO I got at the craft store. I always soap at about 110 degreea and I don't gel anything with vanilla ( It's dark enough already. So I don't think I burned off the scent.

Oops...I just went back and re-read my email from A.M. and she included the usage rate. Sorry, I must've overlooked that the first time I read it. Anyway, for anyone who is interested, she says she does 1 part Island Coconut and 1 part Vanilla Select.

Linda, I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Now I'm feeling a little hesitant about trying it.

Soapbuddy, do you mix Island Coconut with anything or soap it straight? I saw that you said you use 1oz. PPO? Have you ever tried a higher rate? Or would that just be too much to add?

Thanks,
zeo
