Teach Soap

I have seen numerous herb sites selling "prickly ash" by the half pound and full pound. I mentioned this to a friend who has 70+ acres near a lake in our area and he stated that over 35 acres of his land is covered with prickly ash. Does anyone know what would be necessary to take it from "tree/shrub" state to the final product that people are buying it for on herbal sites?

Prickly ash bark contains alkaloids and a volatile oil. You could make a herbal decoction from the bark. What were you planning on doing with it?
It is not safe for pregnant women. It may stimulate menstruation and increase risk of a miscarriage.

I actually have no clue what to do with it. He has asked me to consider creating a website for him and selling it if he could determine what he needed to do to get it prepped for sale. He asked me if it has to be ground, if it includes the leaves, buds, bark....does it include the roots, etc. (Not sure why I am supposed to know all this but when he started asking I said I would see what I could find out for him).

I had read that it was not good for pregnant women...again I don't intend to do anything with it personally. This is more from a webmaster standpoint than a "what can I make with this item" type question.

IF I had a clue what it might be good for I may consider at some point doing something with it since apparently there is 35 acres of it to work with but I wouldn't know where to even start with it. I read an article talking about poultices that incorporated it but I'm not that daring! LOL

I know that Indians used to use it for toothache pain and some people drank the tea for digestion problems and sometimes their tongues would go slightly numb.

It's one thing to use it externally; it's something else all together (if it's even safe) for internal use.
Since he doesn't know what to do with it, I would have him read herb books. Old pharmacopeia documents might work also.

Ground up bark might release the alkaloids and the volatile oil easier. As far as I know no leaves or buds were used.

Some of the weirder stuff you find on the internet.......I'd take with a grain of salt.
