Sea Moss
I’m just back from the Upper Midwest Soapmakers Guild gathering in LaCross WI and thought I’d share what I learned and observed with those I think might benefit from same.
At the top of the list was how everyone loved Bramble Berry’s Sea Moss. Everyone who smelled a soap made with it had that fabulously pleased (eyes rolling back in the head) look on their face. So many people asked me about it and took notes. I predict that’s going to be a huge seller if it’s not already. The other Fragrance I heard a lot of positive chatter about even though I don’t even use it in my soaps is BB’s Relaxing.
On another note, the interest in non-bleeding colorants was really a hot topic. Had I not just run out of my sampler packs of non-bleeding lip and eye safe micas I know I could have turned a lot of people on to them. I did use them in my demonstration, but I just know as long as samples of quality products aren’t stuffed in baggies that clog and poof clouds of mica every time you try to close them, people will USE them and learn how little it takes to get a beautiful results.
The next thing that really stuck out was how many people loved Armond’s (Chase Holding’s) Humming Bird mold – I can’t wait to tell him about that! It occurred to me how that it is really a perfect mold for showing off the use of the mini tool kit I made for BB as well as highlighting your non-bleeding lip and eye safe micas. I’m gonna make you guys a special batch of hummingbirds made with nothing but BB ingredients and tools and I think you’ll understand just how inspiring that mold was to soapmakers who once thought they could never get detail like that. My presentation was hands on for a few of those observing and EVERYONE was instantly able to make a beautiful soap. In fact, for the first time in the history of teaching these classes, all 4 hummingbirds were claimed/sold before they had even cooled.
There was also nothing but respect and affection directed toward Anne-Marie and her crew, you all are very well liked and respected in the industry. *sniff* It was just such a pleasure to be with a group of people who weren’t in the least bit hesitant to say wonderful things about their peers in the industry.
