Teach Soap

Good morning!

I need some advice on how to be creative, and who is more creative than all of you!!!

I have been asked to make speckled eggs for Easter. I have a wonderful egg mold for the task but the speckling is another story.

I thought I was being creative by grinding up oatmeal flakes and adding it to the m+p and it did come out very pretty, however the oatmeal sunk to the bottom of the mold (which is the top of the egg. My customer likes them, but I think I'd be more satisifed knowing the oatmeal was spread throughout.

Aside from a suspension soap base (which I've never worked with but I'm curious about for those of you who use it) is there something else I can use for 'speckling' or a simple way to make them keep from sinking?

If you want to suspend the oatmeal throughout the soap, melt, add oatmeal, then stir and stir and stir until the soap is fairly thick. You will have to work fast once it gets to the "gooey" stage but it works well. Good luck to ya!

Interesting - I stirred quite a bit but definitely didn't let it get "gooey". I will give this a try!

Soap paints might be good for this. You could spot or stripe the eggs that way.
Maybe a 'chunk soap' would work as well....

I grated some colored M&P scraps I had left over from other projects and then filled the halves of my Jello egg mold with them. Then I closed up the mold and filled with oapque base. My daughter's class loved them, and i think they turned out okay.
