Hi all
So my absolute favorite scent is anything with coconut. Like Hawaiin tropic suntan lotion. Or Bath & body works coconut lime verbena. I recently ordered Island Coconut from Brambleberry (so far they are the only place I've used for FO's). I was really bummed. When I opened the bottle, it was absolutely wonderful. My bars are curing right now and they are nothing like what they started out as. They don't really smell at all. I've been learning that it's been difficult to find a coconut fragrance that sticks. Any suggestions...
I'm also looking for a really good Vanilla Chai Latte fragrance or something similar.
Thanks

How much fragrance did you use per lb.?

My oil weight is 3.6 lbs. I'm using 2 oz of fragrance. Should I be using a different amount? This particular scent is the only one that has faded. Otherwise, I've been extremely happy with all the FO's I've used from Brambleberry.

I pulled out my calculator to see what 0.7 PPO would be for 3.6 lbs. of soap. You would need at least 2.5 ozs. of fragrance for that size batch.
I normally soap right around 100 degrees.

The perfect coconut is a never ending quest, by the way. I've been looking for uh, eight years or so, and haven't found the right one yet. There are lots that are lovely in all kinds of products, but most seem to fail in CP. I wish you better luck than I've had!

Thanks for the help soap buddy.

Magichands...I've been told that the quest for coconut is neverending. I was and am still hoping someone somewhere has the answer :) What about a good vanilla chai type FO? Any thoughts on that?

I had the same thing happen. I love coconut in all forms .And was very dissapointed with coconut FO. It did not do well in my CP soap but it did well for me when I made MP in the past. Same supplier( BB). I guess I just won't use it for CP soap. Im sure it would be great in lotions and other stuff.

has anyone here ever tried CocoMango from Snowdrift Farm? I actually have a bottle that I bought but I haven't gotten around to actually using it yet. I can tell you it smells wonderful in the bottle and the recommended usage rate is only .25oz per lb of oils. (that is one thing I like about snowdrifts' FOs)

Coconut, and vanilla. Desperate for a yummy coma-inducing hypnotic vanilla.

I agree......... the quest continues. I also have trouble and blamed it on my goatmilk, but it doesn't look like that is the culprit. I also don't like coconut fo's that end up with a "plastic shower curtain" type smell... so far, the best has been the mix of coconut lime for me. I would still love a nice creamy coconut smell that cured out that way.........
