Teach Soap

Hi all
,I don,t understand after reading alot of posts about this not letting your soap gell. I have read several books and they don,t have any imfo on this. I thought soap all had to go through the sponification process to be soap. I am very confused. So my question is Why do you put into fridge are freezer and what is the benifits from not letting it gell? Is it better soap if you don,t let it gell? Does it take longer to cure? So please help my pea brain understand this.

It's a matter of personal preference. I don't gel. For me the colors are lighter and the fragrances morph less. I also like how ungelled soap looks and feels.

Thank you Soapbuddy. I do think the cp is prettier than the hp. I made a 6 lb batch of cp Fri. and colored it with blue and scented it with Sea Island Cotton and it turned out beautiful. it will be one for the farmers market in may Also if you don,t mind,I have another ? I have never used any liquid colorant and I notice BB has liquid colorant .Is it better to dilute these with water are use as is when coloring cp and hp?
I need to put in a order soon and my powered colorant is so darn hard to get mixed up. I still have tiny specks in all my soap. Thanks

Their liquid colorants are meant to be used as is. Don't dilute them further. Start out with drops and keep good notes in case you need to make the same bach again.

how do you gel or not gel? After I pour my soap, I leave it on a counter in my laundry room uncovered. Is it gelling?

Okay!! So if I didn't want to gel then I would put it in the fridge or the freezer? I tried covering my mold once because I had read that it was important to insulate. I ended up tossing that batch because it heated up to much and weird things happened. Could I have rebatched that?

If you don't want the soap to gel, don't insulate. I put mine in the fridge or the freezer; up to overnight with no problems. It does slow down the saponification process, so you might need extra time before you unmold.
