Ok, I'm new to the soap thing. Did my first batch of CP earlier today.
Since I can't play with it for a month I thought I should bust out the M&P kit that I got a couple weeks ago.
So I start at it.
Maybe it was just this particular brand... I don't know what it was called, some $15 kit from Joann's but once I melted the base it smelled like paint! Ewwww!
and it just didn't get much better. I had to keep melting. Then when I went to use a spatula to scrap the rest out of the measuring cup when pouring it was already hard!

Is this how this always works? I just wasn't lovin it. But I do think I'll end up with pretty bars.

The stuff from the craft store is pretty awful! No, this is not how good quality MP behaves. I would try the MP from Anne-Marie at BrambleBerry next time you need more suppllies.

I agree, craft store supplies are not the best quality. Even if it is not us, I would go to a Soap Making Supply Store next time. :)

Do you think you could have overheated the soap? Burnt MP does smell pretty horrid!

you can burn it? lol
um... I don't think that's what happened. Nope, I just checked. I still have some in solid form and even the solid stuff smells painty. yeck!
I think I'll just stick with CP and next time I get impatient (which will probably be soon hehehe) I'll give HP a whirl.

You all are so helpful!

CP soap is great, but don't give up on MP! There are so many creative, wonderful soaps that can be made with it. Just look at what Soapy Love and PJ can pull off!

I would just get the base from a Soap Supplier next time. The soap will be better quality that way... and if there are any problems with it you can call them and they will know what they are talking about and how to help. :D
