Happy to learn from you

I am new to make soap...I want to know if it is necessary to mix lye and oils at a determined temperature?
I do not have a thermometer and it is difficult to have one for me ... So can I go on roughly? Or it is a must to work with accurate temperatures?

When you are just starting out having a thermometer is helpful. The temps of oils and lye don't have to be exact. I soap at right around 110 degrees (US) as I go by the feel of my hands on the soap pot and lye pitcher. When both are just warmer then my hands I make soap. I have made soap for 40 years, so I feel comfortable using my hands to gauge the temp.
