 Post subject: soap calculators

I am using soap calc which I find quite good but on the left hand side it gives you ranges which you soap should be in for things like hardness, cleansing etc but I do not know where to find which fats and oils have these qualities so dont know which ones I should be increasing and which I should be decreasing to get into the limits

Can you please help

Sometimes it is best to take those amounts with a grain of salt. They are not always super accurate.

We do have a list here though of common soapmaking oils and butters and the properties they each add to your soaps;

I take those qualities with a grain of salt. Olive oil, for example, is listed as a soft oil, yet Castile soap makes a very hard bar.
