Teach Soap

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and need some advice. I just made a gorgeous batch of CP Lime, Cilantro and Geranium soap and after a few days of curing it's turning yellow on the sides and bottom. Actually it's even creeping into the interior of the soap. I use EOs only and organic olive, coconut, palm, castor and shea. I have never had this problem before. I've never used this combo of essential oils. Could it be about the EO's? I colored it with Spirulina. Any help would be awesome, I love the smell of this combo.

I have made spirulina soap before and over time it turned from green to yellow. That could be it.

Really? And in just a matter of days? I've used it before tho this was the most I've ever used in one batch before. I will take that in consideration and use less and see what happens. Thanks for your feedback.

Do you have any suggestions about how to color soaps green without artificial colorants? I have a feeling that green is a difficult color in that most natural additives will oxidate and turn brown and in this case yellow.

To my knowledge there are no natural green colorants that will stay green in soap over time. Natural green contains chlorophyll that fades over time. Think of what happens to green grass after it dries or dies off.
For a green that stays, I use green oxide. And yes, it is made in a lab.

Well, thanks SoapBuddy. I think I will avoid large quantities of spirulina in this case. I do find smaller amounts don't seem to have the same effect. Since I label my soaps "made with organic" I will avoid the lab colorants. Just more problem solving which is why I love making soap so much!
