Teach Soap

As my home is equipped with a water softener I get a nice bubbly lather with my soaps at 14 - 16 bubbly value on the lye calculator.
Are there soapers out there who could guide me where I need it for hard water?? I would like to make soaps for friends who have hard water but
right now its " I love your soap but I can't really get bubblies with it". Would really appreciate a no. I can go by and not make a load of soap on trial and error to finally get it! Thanks so much for all you out there who take the time to help out us amateurs

I have hard water. We have been taught that soap must have a lot of bubbles in order to clean. That's just not true. For example, a well aged Castile soap will not have a lot of bubbles, yet it's one of the most gentle soaps out there. If you up the bubble value on soap calc, it will also be more cleansing, which can contribute to drier skin.

Thanks Irene My sister told me when she uses my soap in hard water it leaves a sticky feeling so I thought maybe getting bubbly value up would solve it. Am I wrong? Or do I try and superfat higher than 6%?

Here's my formula:
24 % tallow
17 % olive oil
14 % palm oil
23 % coconut oil
8 % castor oil
7 % avacado oil
3.5 % aloe butter
superfat 6 %

I would change the coconut oil to 20% and add the difference to your olive oil. You don't really need the aloe butter as it's mostly hydrogenated vegetable oil, most likely soybean.
I prefer a higher superfat like 7-8%. You can add a teaspoon of sugar to your cooled off lye water to help with bubbles.

When you use %, it's easier to change the recipe to any size.

Just to give you an idea.
24 % tallow - 24 ozs.
17 % olive oil - 17ozs.
14 % palm oil - 14ozs.
23 % coconut oil - 23 ozs.
8 % castor oil - 8 ozs.
7 % avocado oil - 7 ozs.
3.5 % aloe butter - 3.5 ozs.

Irena, why lower the coconut oil to 20% ? Is it because it's too cleansing? Coconut oil helps with bubbles?

I have extremely hard water and find 100% coconut oil soap is the only soap I can use. I superfat at 20%. This makes a nice bar for hard water. Here is my recipe:

coconut oil 24 ounces
lye 3.5 ounces
water 9 ounces

Although some believe that coconut oil is drying, when you superfat it then it comes out to be a really nice cleansing bar. I recommend this bar to anybody who has really hard water.
