Teach Soap

Hi everyone,
I am very new to MP soaps and trying to do much research before starting to limit mistakes, headaches as well as wasted soap as much as possible. I have just a few questions I hope to be answered, thanks in advance .
- Generally if I purchase a detergent free melt and pour base will it provide an adequate lather?
- I want to purchase a basic MP detergent free base and add oils to personalize it further, is this an option or will it interfere with texture?
- I have been looking at many MP colorants and am a bit overwhelmed, I have been leaning toward micas and pigments/oxides (not sure if I am using the correct terminology).
- I have read that pigment/oxides do not bleed but am unsure if it is the same for micas.
- Finally, are all micas glittery and have a sparkle to them?

You can add a max of 1 Tablespoon total of an oil or butter to an MP base. Adding more then that and you will start to loose lather.
Micas are the easiest to add. Ultramarines and oxides are harder to mix and you can end up with speckles.
There are matte micas and regular micas. If you add them to a white base, you won't get the sparkle. If you add a regular mica to a clear base, you will see the sparkle.

Hi soapbuddy.
Thanks for the information, I have to ask, what are ultramarines? is it another word for oxide? Also if I was to use an oxide how would I mix it into the MP would I need to pre-mix it with glycerin or oil then add it to the MP? One last question, are micas, oxides, and ultramarines the best options for MP, if not do you have any other suggestions?

One more question, if adding the 1tbsp. to the MP base is it per pound?
