Teach Soap

HI! It's me again. The woman with a thousand questions.....
Although I know it is never comfortable to get soap in your eyes, I feel like my soap is especially harsh on my eyes when I wash my face. Do you think that is "just how it is" or do you think my lye isn't fully processing? I make both CP and HP soap, and have made several different scents, and three different recipes, so it is a running theme with my soap, not with one particular bar.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong, or how to fix it??

Handmade soap has a high pH. It's the nature of the beast. It's best to keep the soap away from eyes.

I'm so glad I happened to see this post/reply today. I've made a few batches of soap and have been having my hubby test them out and he really likes them (he says they are better than his Dial lol) but the only difference is that it just very slightly burns his eyes - so now I know it's natural. I told him that cp soap has a high ph and that may be why but I wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing wrong. Thanks everyone for all your expertise, it really helps and I am having so much fun reading and learning.

Thanks soapbuddy! Yes definitely--I am always careful to use soapcalc and measure very carefully!

I have greatly improved on my burning eye problem.I make hot process soap and I think maybe I wasn't letting it fully process. Also, I pour my my lye water through a strainer be be certain that any tiny particles that may not have dissolved don't get into my oils. I buy the strainers in the paint department at Home Depot and they are like 3 for .99 cents or something like that.
