Teach Soap

The crafters mall that I rent space in has made one of the empty booths a temporary classroom to see if there is interest. I am thinking about doing some classes on things like melt and pour, scrubs, and body butters. I wouldn't do anything with lye because of the liability.

I have experience creating curriculum, teaching, and speaking in front of large groups so I'm not worried about that aspect of it. However, I would like any tips or advice from those who have done or currently do classes. I'm sure I'll have to purchase additional liability insurance. I am currently insured through the policy that comes with professional membership at HCSG. I will also look into any online tutorials about teaching this type of class, so if you know of any good ones I'd love a link.

Besides all the practical stuff like insurance and paperwork my best advice is to have patience and to remember that people my be adults but many of them are beginning learners when it comes to what you know like the back of your own hand.

Goodcleanfun, I have a similar question. I am currently signed up to do a presentation on how to make soap to some kids at a homeless shelter. Maybe that's not such a good, huh? I would need to get them to sign wavers, or their parents anyway. It is at a homeless shelter I am volunteering at that only accepts families with kids, & I was thinking it might be a good way for some of them to make some money. What do you think, bad idea? Bc all of my soaps involve lye...
I guess I could teach them about homemade cosmetics instead, 'ya think? Should I ixnay the soaping presentation?
