Teach Soap

I am about to make some soap bars and am wondering if my palm oil is still good or not? I ordered it on 6/15/14, a 35 lb bucket, & it is still half full. I hate to throw it out, but I don't want to make an entire 20 lbs batch of substandard quality bc one of the ingredients was beyond expiration. Is there anyone that can give me some advice on to use it or throw it out, please? To the naked eye it looks fine and doesn't smell rancid.

Btw, this is one of the old Brambleberry buckets where we had to cut holes in the top and scoop it out, & then there was no way to reseal the bucket. LOVE the new buckets.

Shelf life of palm oil is one year. I would make a small batch and see.
