Has anyone tried African Black Soap? I've had a lot of requests for it at craft fairs I've done, so figuring it is very popular right now, I bought some from a supply company that I have used in the past. When I tried it in the shower, it made my skin burn and tingle, so I thought maybe it's lye heavy, or maybe was recently made. I do have rosacea and occasional sensitivity, but this feeling was all over, not just my face. My skin was sensitive for half the day yesterday but no rash or obvious burn marks. So I wrote to the company asking if they knew the production date, hoping that maybe I could wait a while then try the soap again, and this is the answer I received:
"hello,
yes the soap is made by the same company and it is a normal thing for the soap to give you a tingle/burn sensation."
Normal??!?? I have never known it to be normal for a soap to burn and tingle! I've never even experienced a lye heavy soap, but this is what I imagine it would feel like.
