Teach Soap

I was going through my kitchen cabinets for something to use as a natural color for my soaps. I found Turmeric, Paprica and those works as I have tested them. I also had a bottle of burned caramel (black sticky liquid to color food with, in scandinavia we use it for darkening sauces that need to be more brown etc. Contains no unnatural aditives, just burned sugar)

Is it possible to use this as a dark color for CP soap? I know I can use strong coffee too of course, but I was going for something without smell that clashes with my essential oil. Since it is sugar I know it can heat up things a bit more, like honey and milk can because of the sugarcontent. So perhaps wise to soap in cooler temps?

Anyone tried this, and having some input, or am I on uncharted territory here?

This forum is not very active I have found, so if no one responds I will just go ahead and make a small batch to test it out. Will add it to my lye-water as this color is watersoluble only, and report back (if anyone should be interested.)

You can use cocoa powder for a brown color. It works well and doesn't leave a scent in the soap. The color of your batter is the color of the soap - it doesn't change.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

You can use a small amount for color, but be aware that it's still sugar. Larger amounts can make your batch overheat.

If it's just a few drops, I would add them as soon as you combine your oils and lye.
