Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and to soap making. I have been looking at the posts on this site and also looking at some books. I have The Soapmaker's Companion (susan cavitch) and also The Complete Soapmaker by norma coney. (I know that the Coney book makes the mistake of adding water to lye.) Cavitch's book seems really involved with a lot going into the recipes and also kinda weird with grams and pounds for water??

Wanted to find out if anyone could suggest any other good books/ sites as a starting point for someone new to the hobby. Also any equipment (I have a digital scale and am looking for a stick blender)

Welcome. www.millersoap.com has alot of good recipes, info, etc. You can also learn alot just by reading the posts here. Be careful, it is addictive!

Welcome!
I agree, Miller Soap is a good resource.
However, whatever recipe you use, please run it through a lye calculator.
Mistakes do happen.
