Teach Soap

I have a really nice body butter recipe. So today I made another batch, but I doubled it. The only thing different is I use a Raw Shea Butter instead of the refined shea butter. The Raw Shea butter was more solid so I thought it would be ok. Well, it just doesn't want to get fluffy. I whipped it for a very long time, its still very nice but not fluffly like before. Any ideas of what I can do? Should I just continue to whip it longer? My butters are 75% and oil is 25%. I even double checked my weights. Any help out there for me??

I would try adding a small amount of a liquid oil and whip again.

Could your butter be too warm while you're whipping it? Maybe whip it partway and then stick it in the fridge for 5 minutes too cool it down and whip it again. You may need to do that several times until it's the right fluffiness. Alternately, you can put your bowl in a pan of ice to keep it cool while whipping.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't re whipped it yet but will be doing that later today. I will make sure it is chilled and give it all I got. I don't think I need any more oil. Might be my butters were to warm still. Altho I did put the bowl in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. I need a stainless steel bowl, glass holds heat too long. Thanks so much. When I get done I will let you know how it worked.

Ok, well I whipped the soap out of my body butter and no volume. I believe I need to add a little more hard butter. So my butter to oil is 75% - 25%. My batch is 16 oz or 227 grams. What would you recommend on how much hard butter I should start with, 1% more? When I have the butter in the bowl, and tilt the bowl is moves. I have coco butter, raw shea butter as my hard butters. Any advise, I will give it a whirl.
I used some aloe vera butter and I believe it was too soft of a butter, in my next recipe I will cut back on that particular item and increase my raw shea butter.

It can take up to three days for the butter to reach its final consistency.
