Would butcher paper be good to package bars of soap? I found a good deal on 12 x 12 inch sheets of it. I do think it's lightly waxed. I thought maybe to fold it over and have a label on it?

Thank you!

Try it and see if it works. I use soap boxes since it's faster.

Thanks. I just thought at about 1 1/2 cents a sheet it was cost effective. I wondered if it would make the soap sweat or anything though. I (obviously) am completely new to all this lol.

It does cost less then the soap boxes I use, but you need to figure out your time into it. If I had to wrap each of my soaps individually, that would add quite a bit to my time.

Dharlee, don't worry. I'm on a shoestring budget & use plain old waxed paper to wrap my soaps in. Down here, it's pretty thin & not very waxy. They like small bars down here, so I make a lot in 90gram rectangular molds. I do the wrap and then use the labels (Avery's 18 to a page) to secure the waxed paper. It's very humid here, 400 meters from the Atlantic, and I like waxed paper or butcher paper better than papers that don't let the soap breathe. Also, you can see a swirl through the paper & the customer can smell the scent, if any. It doesn't react with CP soap the way tissue paper can.

Wrapping is an issue for me, as I've only ever sold "naked" soaps before in my boutique. I'm thinking of moving to microperforated cellophane bags for the "pretty" soaps I'm doing now. Will buy just a few bags & see how well they do first.

I'd give anything to use soap boxes - so fast & easy - but even TP is very expensive down here. I have to travel out of town to get waxed paper, even.

I am using shrink rap I bought at the craft store , ten dollars a roll , and using a blow dryer , but I am not selling more than a few a day so
my time is not that precious yet. My first attempts ended up a tangled mess but I am now more efficient . and they look professional
I then banded them with my label and I found at the dollar store a really nice shinny silk wrapping cloth and I tie a ribbon on the top to tie a , its over packed but I am also using ribbons I had bought for another craft and I have loads of ribbons , so my cost per wrap is 3 cents total and they look pretty

The dollar store wrapping paper is a nice place to start , I could see using butcher paper and then using a really nice wrapping paper over them

I ended up buying 6 x 10 sheets of pastry paper and long labels that will completely wrap around the soap. I can print on the front, sides and back of the labels and they look really good when done. Very cost effective and you can smell the soap through the wrapping. Of course I haven't wrapped any of MY soap yet as it hasn't cured yet, but soon. And this was not my original idea. I saw it on YouTube and liked it a lot.
