Hi everyone! I have a question regarding making liquid hand soap from the liquid Castile base from BB. I absolutely LOVE it, and have been using the salt water method to gently thicken it. I created a GREAT kitchen hand soap with it, but my attempts to improve upon it have been futile. Of course, when making all of my soapy creations, I'm washing the heck out of my hands for testing purposes, and their skin is dryer than usual. I'd hoped yesterday I could make a nice goat's milk liquid soap using the base, and was happy with it until this morning, when I noticed that it's separating.
If there is anyone here that has experience creating hand soap from the Castile base & salt water method, would you mind giving me some input?
I started with 16 oz. of liquid soap base. I added 1 oz. of powdered goat's milk, populated with distilled water first. I added this to my warm liquid soap base, & gently stirred until very well combined. It was positively delicious to look at. I added in the proper amount of Optiphen (it's what I have on hand, and I'm not entirely sure I needed to with distilled water, but didn't want to take chances), then added my proper amount of fragrance for the amount of soap. I thickened it to my liking with 3 mL of salt water, combine everything well, & bottled. Pumped it out, washed my hands, LOVED it. Sadly, as mentioned, it's separating this morning.
Should I use an emulsifier & stick blend to combine so that they don't separate, or is it all in vain? Frankly, I'm hellbent on making this work. LOL
Thank you so much for taking the time to read! Have a great day, everyone!
Warmly,
