Teach Soap

Has anyone had any luck using "Cold Water" fragrance in CP soap? I use coconut, palm and canola oils...33% each. I've made 4 batches of 4.5# soap. 3-6 tbl of cold water fragrance oil in these. soaped around 100 degrees. Used blue lab colors and a little bit of tit. dioxide. And still.....weird things happen...last batch was crumbly around the edges. I am so in love with this fragrance, but can't figure out how to get it to cooperate in CP soap. ANY IDEAS OUT THERE? Thanks!

I use Cool Water from Nature's Garden and it soaps beautifully. Does your FO accelerate your soap? Are you using full water? Did the soap gel?

Linda, thanks for reply. Yes, it accelerates it. I gave all the bars away (not sellable), but they were just ugly. I used full amt. of water and sometimes the soap gelled and sometimes it didn't. Do you reach thin trace, then add the fragrance? On the bars that crumble on the edges, I'm thinking it wasn't insulated enough? One batch had white streaks in it. I did use mica, but I thought it had been thoroughly distributed. Thanks!

I only blend until my oils/lye are emulsified and then add the FO and hand stir to mix. Then I separate my batter and add my colors. I'll usually hit these with a quick burst of the stick blender, but that's all unless I need the batter thicker for my design.

You can try adding the FO to your cooled oils before adding the lye solution. Sometimes having the FO diluted in the oil makes it slow down a bit.

I have used it with no problems. It's possible that your soap got a partial gel. That's why the edges are crumbly.
