I have been working on a recipe for acne and was informed about activated charcoal. I have measured and followed the recipe exactly and it appears to come out more like concrete than soap. I used the basic recipe of palm, coconut, olive and added 1/2 tsp of charcoal per lb. I mix at 110-120 degrees. I have also added tea tree oil. Any tips. I use the lye calculator and fragrance calculator so I don't see how I am getting this wrong.

I'm not sure why you are getting cement. I normally prehydrate the charcoal in some water first.

I generally mix my charcoal, with an essential oil...generally Aniseed 8) I use quite a bit maybe one 1 Tbs per pound...customers love it!
