Teach Soap

I have read and read and read that I think I have read too much. Is that possible? I have surfed the web, bought a book, the pans, thermometer, goggles, Lard, Lye, Sweet Almond Oil, FO, have Goat Milk on hand, found directions for DH to build a mold box, etc. I think that covers it. My problem is getting started and I am not sure why. I found a recepie that calls for Glycerin and have not found another and it does not seem to be listed on many Lye Calculators I have looked at. Why? I understand the natural glycerin that remains, is this why it is not often called for? I am wondering if I should return it before I use it or if you can help me find super easy recepies to use it. I am very excited and can not wait to become a soaper but I think I have my self worried and confused that I won't be able to figure out the lye calculator. I have the SAP charts for many many oils, but think I should find something easy and just follow a recepie to start. Any advice would be great! I can not wait to get my first batch poured and wait for it to cure so I can send my family and friends to the shower!

I'd probably start with a recipe that doesn't require additional glycerin - if you have some you want to use up that's one thing, but very few soapers add extra. You can get specific effects with it, but those are a bit more advanced, so I'd save it for later.... you can end up with soft, sticky soap if you aren't careful.

It isn't listed on the lye calculator because it does not saponify when it comes into contact with lye, so there isn't any value to calculate.

You should start with some small batches, so you can get the hang of it - no need to make huge amounts until you know what you like. There are some good, easy ones on teachsoap under this heading -
