I only use red palm oil in a very small amount for color. Use too much and it can stain and will have yellow bubbles.

Palm Oil is not easy to find. Can I substitute another oil and still have the soap turn out ok? I just don't want to waste product. I'm really doing a lot of research at this point. Could I substitute another oil for the Palm Oil (any suggestions on this) and then use just a little of the Red Palm Oil?? When you say you use a little Red Palm... what amount is a very small amount? As you can see, I'm so new to all of this lol. Thanks for your patience with me.

I use less then a teaspoon of red palm oil to add color to my soap. Depending on your recipe, you can leave it out completely. Run it through a lye calc and see.

If you're wanting to use palm and not order it online, I can find it in every grocery store I've ever looked for it. Spectrum brand vegetable shortening is one for example.

Is that a RED palm oil abc?

We ordered some palm oil from a great company online.

Just to be clear - if you substitute, you need to run your recipe through a lye calculator. Palm, tallow and lard can be substituted for each other in that they will yield a similar soap b/c all 3 contribute hardness, but you still need to check your lye calculations.
