Hello Folks:

I have a question relating to the use of beer in soap making. Should one boil the beer initially in order to rid it of its alcohol before freezing it for use in the lye?

Yes. I simmer off the alcohol and soap it VERY cold.

Since you soap at VERY cold temps, would it be a safe assumption that you do not gel this type of soap?

Soaping beer soap at higher temperatures can accelerate trace or volcano in the mold.

I made a successful beer soap by just leaving the beer out to go flat for a few days. i didn't boil it or anything.

Just a word of warning if you've never made it before...it stinks at first. REALLY bad. The smell will go away as it cures, but wow it's pretty bad at first. At least it was for me.

I don't add any scent to mine. The awful smell will go away as the soap cures.
