Ok. My dilemma: made unscented batches of rhassoul clay and charcoal clay (separately). I haven't cut the other 4,yet, but these two are crumbly about/up to 1/2 inch from the top. I made sure the oils were mixed. I sprayed both with alcohol so they wouldn't have soda ash. But all of my soaps have soda ash-- not spraying anymore. They gelled. I made 8 small batches and put them altogether on my freezer and insulated under a towel. The cat even helped keep them warm by laying on them (after hard and were covered). When I cut into the soap the top is the consistency of wet sand, but the bottom is fine (looks just like soap should).
Maybe the top didn't gel? Maybe I didn't mix enough? Any ideas?
I did the zap test for the bottom and it didn't zap me. Just nasty soap mouth.
Recipe for both: 12 oz- olive, coconut, Palm oil, 4 oz rice bran oil, lye 5.7, water 15.4. The other 6 soaps are fine. They have a nice slight soda ash look on them, but nothing like the other two above.
** I cut the other four soaps and they have a thin layer of crumbly soda ash?, but the rest of the soap bar is fine. I would post pictures, but reducing the size of the pictures is a little frustrating.
