How wide do you cut your soap? I've been making my practice soaps and cutting them 1 1/4 inch thick. So far they look good. I'm just wondering what everyone's preference is. I'm finding that I like a thicker bar. It doesn't seem to fall apart have way through being used.

Just curious as to what everyone prefers is all. Also, how many soaps do you keep in your shower to test/enjoy. I'm finding the more I make the more bars I find. Right now I have an unscented charcoal bar, I have a flowery scented one and a black Amber lavender from brambleberry. So far it smells pretty good in my shower. :D

1.25" for almost all of my soaps.

It depends on the mold, but as a general rule, just over an inch. Much wider and I get complaints that they're too wide. People say they're uncomfortable to hold when they're new.

Between me and my husband, we have an embarrassing number of odds and ends in the shower. The Hubs has really been great about the soaping stuff. He'll test anything for me and give me an honest opinion, even the super girly soaps. My friend's husband is even worse. He has a bad back and loves to kick back in a hot bathtub, so he's my bubble bar and bath bomb tester. My friend walked in her bathroom one day to find him singing in the tub and surrounded by bubbles up to ears in a cloud of BB Fresh Snow. She just shook her head and walked back out again.

I cut an inch thick from the base wood molds, but I have super tiny hands, as does my daughter, who is fast becoming as addicted as Mamma to soaping. (She is 19).

My son has also become a bath bomb addict. ( He is 23) I have gotten so that I keep bath bombs made up because he super cleans the whole tub before he bath bombs, which is usually twice a week. I get to make bath bombs and he always does the super cleaning. Win win, yes?

@jennybee and @TwystedPryncess that's so sweet and awesome that you've got family/friends to help you test stuff out! It's fun when everyone gets in on it. I love it that the men will clean the tub just test the bubbles and fizzles in the bath bombs! That's just too cool! @TwystedPryncess awesome your daughter helps out! It is truly addicting hobby/business!

@soapbuddy thanks for the input! I like a slightly thicker bar they don't seem to fall apart mid-use!

My kids will help me test soap and face masks. The hubby just uses what's in the shower and tells me what he REALLY didn't like. (But he's not one for overly smelly soaps or fragrances so it all stinks to him.) So my kids are better helpers!

I'll tell you who NOT to ask to test your products is church friends. They can NOT bring themselves to tell you if they don't like something. If you hear, "Bless your heart," you know you bombed.

My slicer is about 1 inch thick.

You soap should not be "falling apart". Maybe it needs to age more?

currently I have 2 bars in the bath tub. I have one from a swap years ago that I just love that I am letting dry out again so it lasts as long as possible.
