I am flabbergasted. I began a liquid soap using the Lye/Alcohol method the other day per a recipe in a book written by a well-known soap crafter. My husband went crazy when he learned I was using isopropyl alcohol in this "cooked" recipe and accused me of trying to kill myself, him and our three dogs with alcohol vapors. He really did call the local sheriff. Of course I used all precautions, gloves and goggles and created a 4 ply plastic top for my soap pot which was in a double boiler. He was raving about poison information on the internet and I could not find a conversion for ppm to ounces for alcohol not to mention the problem with converting liquid to vapor. I was not concerned since the small amount of vapor would have included a significant amount of water. I was using a 6 pound soap recipe that called for 20 ounces of isopropyl. Does anyone have information to soothe my husband's concerns. Thanks much.
