I wonder about this, too! What about selling soap, bath bombs, etc. made from someone else's recipe? Or using someone else's idea? If they share it on the internet, is it free for all to use? Do you have to be totally original in your recipe and design to sell it? I don't want to be copying other people, but it seems like someone in the world somewhere probably has already made something just like what I'm making. But then people also talk about getting inspiration from others, from others ideas. So, all you soap makers who sell your soaps; how do you deal with this? With originality, and using other's recipes and ideas?
Bramble Momma, if BB posts a recipe on the soapqueen blog, and a soaper makes that exact recipe and starts selling it, is that okay?
Thank you, dl8849, for asking this question. This bothers me too. I don't want to take other's ideas, but they are sharing it on the internet for all to read, and soapers like get inspiration from each other. When is it okay and when is it not okay to make and sell other's soaps?
I hope some more experienced soapers will comment on this, too!
Thank you, also, Bramble Momma and the rest of Bramble Berry for all the recipes, tutorials, and videos you give to us soap makers! You guys have really done so much to advance the soap making craft and make it fun!
