Teach Soap

I saw it on youtube, and being I was making a small batch, didn't think it would hurt if I screwed something up

Made my recipe, 20oz oils, did not melt them, mixed my lye water, poured that over my oils to melt, then stick blended to trace, added my fragrance and into the molds. OMG, it was sooo fast, came together so easy. I dont think I would trust this on a big batch, but wow.

Is there a reason more people don't do it this way? possible overheating or? LOVE LOVE LOVE it, so fast to do, did the whole batch in 15 min (would have been less, but had toput the soap into 12 small molds.

I think for my soap cupcakes, I might want to do this more often, unless there is a negative issue that can happen. sooooooo fast!

(made BB chocolate chip mint into mini bundt cakes-tomorrow m&p glaze will go on!)

You can use hot lye to melt your room temp oils just as long as you don't use higher melt point ingredients like beeswax. The problem with this method is that you can get a false trace and end up with lye pockets or unincorporated fragrance oils, due to a faster trace.

I did notice there was a lot quicker "trace" so I opted to bring it to a much thicker tracer as I was doing a solid soap, no pattern. Hopefully it really WAS trace! Now I am worried, but its been a couple hours now, soap is hardening nicely, no sign of separation... yet.

Really hope this works, I will do it more often! It was so much easier, less hassle. I know soaping is NOT about what is always easier, faster... but more about what works and is safe. but if its faster, and safe... and works, even better!

This is called the "heat transfer" method. I can't seem to get my lard and coconut oil to melt all the way with this method, but I've done it as a combo with hot processessing in my crockpot. I put my oils in my crockpot, set it to low, let them melt a bit, then mix the lye and the water and immediately pour the lye water into the crockpot.

It seemed to have worked for me, but my base oils were fairly warm and in very small pieces. Waiting a bit longer to unmold, just to be safe.

Yah! picture worked! They look 'wet' as I have they sprayed down with rubbing alcohol, doing so every 90 min! WILL NOT let these get touched my soda ash! Would be tooooo hard to clean.

They will be having a green glaze over top, peppermint scented, to heighten up teh mint in the fragrance oil. Then made some brown sparkle m/p that I will grate on top to stick to the green glaze!


SOOOOOOO excited. Might have to get more of these molds. Making only 12 at a time is hard. to build up a supply...

I soap almost exclusively with the thermal transfer method and love it! Your soap turned out great
