So, have you ever forgotten that you placed a loaf of soap in the oven to get it out of the way while it gels, and then pre-heat the oven for dinner? I don't recommend it.

I had the most beautiful top with MP hearts sticking out for Valentines Day, now they are a puddle.

I just can't seem to get my Valentines soaps done without incident. :x

Nope... because I turn the oven on... let it heat up, turn it off and let it go overnight in the oven... IF I oven process. I haven't had much luck with it. My oven sucks... and I am too forgetful. I am extra careful

I wasn't trying to oven process, I was just working on a lot of things in the kitchen so I sometimes put my completed loaf in the oven without the temp turned on. I have found that as it gels it heats the oven up anyway. But this one was soaped cooler because of the MP on top, so it wasn't even gelling the few times I checked on it. Anyway, later I went to the store and when I returned I turned the oven on to pre-heat for dinner without thinking about my soap being in there.

I cut it last night and it still looks pretty good. The fragrance is Black Cherry, so the red blobs on top with the red run off from where they melted doesn't look horribly bad if one doesn't know they used to be hearts. I'm going to sprinkle some glitter on top to make them look a little better. I'm happy with the swirl on the inside even though the colors are darker than I wanted. I'll try to post a picture.

Here is a pic. I don't remember seeing the white spots when I cut it last night? Anyone know what they might be? They are not as noticeable to the eye as in the picture.

Did you use palm oil? It could be stearic acid spots from the oil.

Yes, I did use palm in equal amount to coconut and olive. I usually use a higher olive % but am running low on olive until I get my (back ordered) order.

Pretty soap! I haven't melted part of a soap, but I did once melt part of one of my fave plastic containers when I forgot I had put it in the oven to get it out of the way for a few mins, just like you did w/your soap. Is there a warehouse store near you? I get a good deal on 3L reg OO and EVOO from Sam's.

Thanks! There is a warehouse store about 1-1.5 hrs from me. We had a membership a few years ago but we didn't feel that we used it enough to keep it. I'll have to ask around and see if anyone I know has a membership and is going soon. Thanks for the idea! I bought a large bottle of OO from the grocery store in the meantime to be able to make my Valentines Day soaps.
