How big are the soaps you are wrapping? Just wondering if the bags you got are too big. Shrink wrap will only shrink to a certain point. I think the size I use most is 4x6 and depending on the shape and size sometimes I had to cut some of the end of the bag off.

Like Rosie, I do the sides first with quick passes of the heat gun, starting at the bottom of the side of the soap and moving to the top so any excess wrap is pulled taught at the bottom first. Then I lightly do the top to make it flat.

I have a question about the shrink wrap bags: do you have to seal the open edge? I can see buying a heat gun but not a sealer. :) Right now, I'm bagging my soap in glassine bags and using a cute label to close them.

For melt and pour, yes, you have to seal the open edge, but I just fold it under and tape, like wrapping a gift. I've seen some shrink bands for cold process soap where you leave both ends open.

Yes, I tried that and it still did not work. So I just cut the edge off the bags and tape the edges together. It works really well.

So I'm wrapping glycerin in plastic bags like Christmas presents. I'm cigar banding (practicing on what wrapping I like) my cold process soaps. What few I have made.

I buy shrink wrap bags from papermart. their price is amazing and it works to die for. On my CP I cut the closed end of the bag off, and use it as a band. for MP I keep it as a bag. I think its the 4X6" size. If I have a round soap, I trim more off and I use that as a band to seal other products. Works amazing for bath bombs too

I want to try the perforated shrink wrap for my CP soap. I usually shop at Papermart but I haven't seen the perforated type there. Anyone have a good place to get it from?
