I had my soap in the mold (olive palm, canola, coconut) using BB Blackberry. It looked amazing, was easy to work with, did a really pretty high top... was almost hard.

then...

the high top fell, the whole top looked... like it was back to liquid, very oily... cried really really hard...

left it be for a few hours...

turned rock hard again, already cut (less than 10 hours after making)

WHAT happened?!? went from hard, to liquid, to hard again?!? Positive, LOOKS AMAZING (white-turned yellow from fragrance with black and purple swirls). I did notice it got fairly hot, could the soap have "rebatched" itself? melted then hardened again? I had 2 other batched do this, but I tossed before seeing what they would do (they just looked sooo bad)

Sounds like the soap gelled. It can happen with a fragrance. Next time, put the soap in the fridge or the freezer.

Ok, I like that there is an real "issue" and that I didnt just screw up. I dont know why, but it seems to be happening more and more. I dont get it! make 3 batches the same, scent, color and all... and 1 will do it. Driving me nuts.

Does it hurt the soap at all? Is it normal with certain scents? like fruit or floral or... or..?

It doesn't hurt the soap. Certain floral or spice fragrances can do that.

Still so in awe of what it did. I went a little heavy on the TD to try and counter teh green beige color the fragrance goes... turned dark yellow instanty, did the gelling.... now its back to pretty white and colors are more vibrant than ever.

Soaping really keeps you on your toes!

Gel isn't a bad thing, it's just a matter of preference. I usually want my soaps to gel and insulate them so they will. If you don't want your soaps to gel, you can soap at a lower temperature, point a fan at the soap, or even put the mold in the fridge or freezer.

I prefer not to gel, so my soaps go in the fridge or the freezer, up to overnight.

I am putting all soaps in the freezer now. It was just too crazy, worked hard on the design on the top, then for it to fall "melt" and then look like it was a disaster. Crazy, that soap I almost tossed, turned out to be the best soap I made... it sold before it was even ready to use (had a "do not use before" date on it)

I never insulated or did anything for my soaps other than put on the table to harden up. Now, using a local raw goat milk for most my soaps... right into the freezer. I love what the goat milk does, gives me more work time, resulting soap are amazing. Think I found my niche, goat milk soaps. I love all oils and methods I have tried, but really in love with goat milk.
