Teach Soap

Hey all! I am going to be making my first candles next week. I got 12 oz mason jars and the advance soy wax with red and green color blocks. Also, I purchased cd 12 wicks because the containers are about 2.5 in in diameter.


im looking for some tips to make my experience a little easier,

Also...what scent ratio does anyone recommend? I've read it's about 1 oz of fragrance to 1 lb of wax.

You will need to experiment with wicks. Melt pool, cold and hot throw can change with each fragrance and each color. I would get a sample wick pack and see which wick works the best with your container and your wax.
For fragrance, your vendor should have suggested amounts.

Honestly I just make wax tarts but I'm familiar with the color blocks. Honestly, I hate them with a passion! I got the Orange one to make pumpkin wax tarts and not only is it like cutting granite it takes soooooo much to make a semi decent color! Not only did my tarts smell terrible (or at least I think they do. I only smell chemicals but everyone around me says they smell good! ) the color was the worlds lightest orange! It was more like that yellowish color you see on peaches! So I make wax tarts with liquid dyes now but that's because I'm lazy and my family has a history with arthritis that I'm not interested in speeding towards me! b
