Teach Soap

I'm trying to make a lavender coconut lotion. But I'm not sure how much of each fragrance to use. I'm making 16oz of soap. I tried using the fragrance calculator on BB.com but it just lets u calculate one blend. When I try to test the two I always smell the lavender more. Any suggestions of usage for each the blend?

One way to find the blend you like is to drop some of the EO or FO or a cotton ball, put it in a jar (like a babyfood jar), and open the jar and smell it after a day or a few days. So for example, have 1 jar with 1 drop lavender and 1 drop coconut, then a jar with 2 lavender and 1 coconut, then a jar with 2 coconut and 1 lavender.

There is also a sticky about fragrances - top notes, middle notes, etc, - that you should read. Might help you get a better idea.

ETA: Generally, I am not a blender myself. What I prefer to do is seperate the soap and scent each half, then pour both into the mold. For example, I love lavender vanilla, but when I tried blending them the smell was harsh and sort of "muddy". But when I split my batch and do 1 half vanilla and 1 half lavender. then poured them into the mold, I really like the result. You can also vary the amount you are pouring so some bars are more vanilla, some more lavender, and some 50/50.

Coconut is NOTORIOUS for morphing and fading, so you may have some trouble with this project.

I do the same as dixiedragon for creating blends. If you're doing a lotion with the coconut you should be fine with it retaining it's scent. Most coconut FOs don't hold up well in CP.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I would try a drop of each on a q-tip. Since Lavender is much stronger then coconut, I would do 3 parts coconut to one part lavender.

Coconut cream from by bb is still going strong in my cp soap I made 6 mos ago. One of my first batches.

Has anyone blended sleigh ride with some mint e/o? I m wondering
