Teach Soap

Hello all, I'm a long time lurker with a question for you. A couple of years ago I started making cold process soap. I had visions of gifting everyone I knew with soap and body products and hopefully after a year or so creating recipes I would eventually be able to try and make a business out of it. I had been researching, accumulating ingredients, making some batches and then my life came crashing down. Family business in bankruptcy, cheating husband all kinds of fun stuff. Needless to say I haven't had time to devote to soap crafting and now that I want to start over I'm wondering if I have to buy all new ingredients. I'm mainly questioning oils and butters that I purchased that I never opened. Are they still good or should I toss them? Thanks so much for any insight you can provide.

Give us a few more details, and then maybe we can give you a better idea of shelf life.

1. what is the temp where they have been stored? Did it ever get too warm in there? Beyond 75f?
2. which oils exactly?
3. are they exposed to light? sunlight through a window or artificial?
4. clear bottles? brown jugs?

Thanks so much for that sticky. They were stored in cool garage, I think I may use them up just to practice technique and let them sit for 6 months to see what happens without planning to distribute. Thanks again!! jenn
