Teach Soap

I currently have a page I made last year with Go Daddy and their web page builder. It has some frustrating qualities but is pretty basic to use, and fairly cheap. I get annoyed with it a lot but can work with it and around the things I don't like. My contract is up in October and I'm thinking of switching to Volusion. It is more expensive than what I pay now, the cheapest one is about $5 a month more, but I'm thinking based on the sites I've seen that Volusion has a more professional look. I just hate to think of all the time to learn a new system and rebuild a site. I'm going to sign up for the free trial to try it out when I have a few days off to play with it, but I would love feedback for others who have websites they sell on.

What do you use, how hard or easy is it to make changes once you have your site up, and do you do it all yourself? Any info is appreciated!

I do it myself and for the complicated stuff I contract out with O-desk.

I'll have to look up O-desk, I haven't heard of it. Do you use Volusion or another service?

Volusion is a web hosting and design site, so you pick a package deal for how big you want your website (ie basic level, intermediate) and how many services are needed - such as shopping cart, apps, etc - and then pay a monthly fee (usually charged yearly) depending on the amount of services you choose. I guess like Go Daddy or any of the other do-it-yourself hosting places, only I have seen their name on other home business sites and the sites are very nice and professional looking. I just don't know what level the ones I like are, and I don't want a big expensive package, just something basic, easy to update, with a good mobile application. But cheap, lol. I saw that they offer a deal to Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild members so I thought maybe some soapers here may have taken advantage of the discount.

I was curious about this topic myself so I thought I'd give them a search. Before I even finished typing the name the search engine guessed "Volusion scam" and it converned me. Naturally I went on that result to see if it had any news articles or any indication of what "scam" they thought it was. I found multiple links talking about how bad reviews are being pushed down or not even published. Having read some of the reviews it does seem concerning but everything requires it's own research.

Just be sure to make note of any repeating trends and using your own judgment with whats a real issue you would hav to encounter.
